Deacon Quals 

Qualifications of a Deacon

 

  1. That he/she be recognized as a practicing Christian in the community
  2. He/she ought to have demonstrated herself/himself in a position of trust in the church
  3. He/she ought to be the embodiment of the ideals of Acts 6:3-5, 1 Timothy 3:8-13, and the Church Covenant.
  4. He/she should contribute to the support of the church, keeping in mind the teaching of the scriptures as to that portion of his/her substance that is an acceptable gift.
  5. He/she should attend with faithfulness the services of Worship and Prayer, Deacon’s Meetings, Teaching and Training Programs in the church.  He/she will be absent from any of these functions only when they can do so with a clear Christian conscience.
  6. He/she should hold the highest esteem the reputation of this church, subscribe to and promote its doctrines, defend its liberty, encourage the extension of its worldwide missions, work for the salvation of the lost, and support the Pastor and those elected leaders in the church.
  7. The Deacon must understand this is a Spiritual office with a Pastoral function and he/she is to promote peace and harmony where his/her influence can be used to that end.
