Emmaus Baptist Mission was started shortly after the Civil War. In the beginning, services were held in homes of the community. This continued for some two or three years before a chapel (Emmaus Chapel) was built in Hunts Neck, near the head of Roberts Creek. Emmaus Baptist Church was constituted on June 21, 1878, with twenty-seven charter members. Bethel Baptist Church, our mother church granted dismissal letters and our church was founded.

In 1888, the church moved to its present location, and a small sanctuary was built on one acre of land which now serves as our chapel/fellowship hall. IN 1925, Sunday School rooms were added to the back of what was then the sanctuary, and in 1949, on the eastward side, additional Sunday School rooms were built.
In 1960, the church built the present sanctuary and educational building. As the church continued to grow, in 1977, a new multipurpose annex was added to the back of the sanctuary. The last addition to the church properties was in 2000; the Christian Outreach Center (COC) was built and has served our church and community in many ways.
